Hello folks,

This year we are starting our selection process a month earlier by instituting an early-bird selection process for a number of exchanges. These exchanges must meet our requirements of serving youth from previously underrepresented areas and demographics. These groups must also be interested in participating in a reciprocal, engagement exchange program.

We are looking for groups of 10-30 youth between 12 and 17 years of age. The YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada program will cover the costs of transportation to and from the exchange destination. We will also provide extensive support throughout the exchange process, including some discretionary support funding as required by certain groups (to be assessed and distributed on a case-by-case basis).

Please let me know if you are interested. We have a number of groups in our database who have already applied, and your group may be a great match. Additionally, if you apply early we may be able to assist you in finding a potential twin group.

I have attached our application form and guide for your review. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Bonjour

SVP me contacter si vous avez n'importe quelles questions !

SWSE is a national exchange program offering 16- and 17-year-old youth the opportunity to improve their second official language skills, while also gaining valuable work experience through a paid placement in the non-profit sector.  For six weeks during the summer, participants live with a host family and work in a community where French predominates; at the same time, their own family usually hosts their francophone counterpart in Western Canada.  They travel with a group of peers, and take part in activities
every weekend to deepen their connection with each other and with their new community.

SWSE is a non-profit exchange funded by Exchanges Canada (Department of Canadian Heritage), and is offered at minimal cost ($50) to the students.
