NBTA Response to FSL Review

NBTA Response to the
Review of French Second Language Instruction
in New Brunswick
April 2000

The New Brunswick Teachers’ Association (NBTA) believes in the importance of French Second Language (FSL) education for all Anglophone New Brunswick students, especially since New Brunswick is an officially bilingual province. We also believe that it is important from time to time to “pause and reflect” in order to assess our progress and our achievements. We are most conscious of the fact that New Brunswick is not a rich province, Although the ideal might be to offer a smorgasboard of opportunities in order to respond to individual and community circumstances. the practical answer would be that a host of needs and priorities would limit the availability of multiple programs in Second Language Instruction.
