- 2000 Concours d'art oratoire

The Concours d'art oratoire is the provincial French public speaking competition
for students studying French as a second language. It is organized
by Canadian Parents for French, New Brunswick Branch (CPF-NB) to provide
New Brunswick students in French second language programs an opportunity
to use their second language outside the classroom environment.

This year 101 students from ten of the twelve provincial anglophone school
districts participated in the Concours on April 15th at Millidgeville
North School in Saint John. District 2, Moncton; District
4, Sussex; District 6, Rothesay; District 8, Saint John;
District 10, St. Stephen; District 12, Woodstock; District
14, Dalhousie; District 15, Bathurst; District 16, Miramichi;
and District 18, Fredericton, participated in the 2000 Concours d'art
oratoire. All students participating received participation certificates
and "Proud of Two Languages" t-shirts. Second and third place winners
received commemorative plaques and first place winners received plaques
and trophies. NB Tel awarded cash prizes to the first place winners.
The first place winners in grades 6 to 8 received $100 in cash from NB
Tel, grade 9 to 11 received $125 and the first place winner in grade 12
received a $200 cash prize. The first, second and third place winners
of the 10 French second language categories are:
Grade 6 Early
French Immersion: 1st place - Rebecca
