April 16/99 was another exciting day for CPF students. One hundred and thirty nine students from eleven of the twelve provincial anglophone school districts participated in the Concours.

Districts who participated were School District 2,4, 6, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18.

Each participating student received a certificate and "Proud of Two Languages" t-shirt.
Second and third place winners received commemorative plaques,

1st place winners received cash prizes to the six high school categories.
1st place winners in Grades 9 to 11 received $100 cash from NBTel,
1st place winner in Grade 12 received a $200 cash prize.

The guest speakers at our Opening Ceremonies were:

Mr. James Thorburn, Principal, Fredericton High School.

Our special "thank you" note goes to Louisel Pelletier-Robichaud, French Department Head, Fredericton High School.

I feel, without her help, we would have been lost in that huge school. Sincere thanks to all the volunteer students, who stood at the doors and timekeepers and also to let us know which way to turn in the corridors.

My heartfelt thanks goes to Jane Keith, who makes sure everything is done properly and the whole event runs smoothly.
