CPFNB is proud to announce the 2006 Provincial CPF Concours d'art oratoire. This year the Provincial Concours d'art oratoire will be held at Leo Hayes High School in Fredericton on May 6th. Categories are Early Immersion, grades 6 to 12; Late Immersion, grades 7 to 12; and Core French, grades 9 to 12.

French Summer Camp in Whistler - Since 1992, international campers
have been coming to Tamwood Camps in Whistler to learn languages,
enjoy exciting activities and fun excursions and make friendships
and memories that last a lifetime. Tamwood’s
residential summer camp in Whistler is host to campers from such
places as Mexico,France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Japan, USA, Venezuela,
Quebec, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Brazil. |

Learn French or practice and improve your French to get ready
for the school year by attending a French
camp in Whistler. Campers take French classes 4 days per week
(3 hours per day) and then do fun activities such as kayaking, rock
climbing, and mountain biking with French-speaking camp counselors.

Census
at School is an international classroom project supported by
Statistics Canada for students aged 8 to 18. They gather information
about themselves by completing a brief online survey. The anonymous
results are used for teaching various subjects and comparing students'
lives in different countries.

The Provincial
Concours d’art oratoire is a public speaking competition
sponsored annually by CPF to provide students in French second language
programs an opportunity to use their second language skills outside
the classroom environment. We will be awarding a cash prize to the
first, second and third place winners and the first place winners
in grade 12 will also be awarded an all expense paid trip to Ottawa,
Ontario on May 28, 2005 to compete in the CPF
National Concours d’art oratoire. |

Canadian secondary school students are invited to take part in a
poetry contest based on the theme “Dialogue on Canadian Diversity”.
Participants are called upon to use their second language to create
a work inspired by the richness of Canada’s geological, biological
and/or cultural heritage. |English

I'm really pleased to announce a national contest that is being
offered by CPF and the Embassy of France. Participants are asked
to put together a team of three students to create an original theatrical
play based on the
theme "Cultural Differences and Tolerance", videotape
their performance, and enter it for a chance to win a trip to France.

de Moncton, Shippagan Campus, Shippagan, New Brunswick. |

six-day residential camp for grades 7-9 French immersion students
in Iles de Madeleine provides a full schedule of exciting activities
featuring; sailing, kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing, bird watching,
canoeing, theatre and MUCH more. |

a contest where 14 to 18 year old Francophones and Francophiles
from across the country are invited to create a French language video
to present their hometown culture |

The Coady International Institute is now recruiting dynamic community-minded
Canadians between 19 and 30 years of age to participate in its international
internship program. |

CPF and the Embassy of France to Canada are holding a national writing
competition that is open to a team consisting of four Grade 11 and/or
12 French immersion students (students 16 years of age and older)
and one teacher. The prize is a trip to France for the four students

"Proud of
Two Languages" Essay Contest Deadline : February 1, 2000
Canadian Parents for French is pleased to announce the Third Annual
Proud of Two Languages Essay Contest for senior high school students
studying either Core or Immersion French. |
Encounters
with Canada Youth Program Encounters With Canada (EWC) is a
series of one-week programs of Canadian studies held at the Terry
Fox Canadian Youth Centre, in Ottawa, for 15-17 year old students
from across the country. EWC was developed by the Council for Canadian
Unity, a volunteer, non-profit organization. To house the program,
the CCU created the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre. The Terry Fox
Centre opened its doors in Ottawa in September 1992.
Once again, CPF has arranged a special week, April 30 to May 6,
2000 at the Terry Fox Centre. This week is especially designed for,
and open to, the children of CPF members. The theme for this week
is "the Canadian Experience". The objectives are to bring together
young Canadians from CPF families to give them the opportunity to
learn about one another, to discover their country through each
other, and to gain a better understanding of Canada.

d'art oratoire List
of 1999 Winners
The year 2000 Concours will be held on April 15th at Millidgeville
North French immersion school from 11:30 to 4:00 p.m. Competition
categories will include Early French immersion, grades 6,7 and 8;
Intermediate French immersion, grades 7, and 8; High school French
immersion, grades 9, 10, 11, and 12; Core French, grades 9, 10,
11 and 12. Information/registration packages will be sent to the
district French second language supervisors the last week of November
1999. Please contact the CPF New Brunswick office for more information.
A CPF volunteer is needed to act as our Volunteer Coordinator for
Concours. Contact our office. |

Summer Camps Week long camps in French and day camps in French

La Dictee
P.G.L. Is a french dictation competition culminating
in a grand finale in Montreal put on by the Paul Gerin-Lajoie Foundation.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to use their French
language skills and to learn something about life and culture in
Africa at the same time. |
Write it
Up 2000! Contest This year, the Write It Up! Contest
celebrates the arrival of the year 2000 and the new millenium as
well as the Year of la Francophonie in Canada! To enter the contest,
all you have to do is write a letter suitable to be inserted in
a time capsule which will be opened by kids your age in the year
3000! In your letter, tell your far-fetched friends and relatives
about the fact that Canada has two official languages - English
and French - and how they were used in the "olden days" of 2000!
Students must be between 10 and 13 years of age. Letters must be
75-100 words and written 1/2 in English and 1/2 in French. 100 prizes
