CPF 2000-2001 Essay Contest Rules

Illustrate why learning French has been valuable to you, and would be valuable to others, in this increasingly diverse world.

Contest Rules

1. All essays must be written in French and must be 250 words in length.

2. Essays must be typewritten or printed from a computer. Hand-written or hand-printed essays will be disqualified. Please double-space your
essays and use 8.5” x 11” blank white paper.

3. Only one entry per student permitted.

4. Do not write your name anywhere on the essay. All entries must be attached to an official “Proud of Two Languages Essay Contest” entry form
available from Canadian Parents for French (CPF).

5. High school students in Grade 10 or higher enrolled in a French-second-language program in this academic year are eligible to enter. Students
must certify that French is not their first language and that the essay is solely their creation based on their own experiences.

6. All entries become the property of CPF.

7. Awards will be announced in March 2001. The decisions of the judges are final. Award level: First $1000, Second $500, Third $250, and three
Honourable mentions of $100 each.

8. Authors of all essays must agree that CPF may use their name, likeness and/or essay in the promotion of the contest and the CPF mandate.

Contest deadline is January 18, 2001.
