| Canadian Parents for
French (CPF) organises its fourth annual national essay contest for
high school students.
This
year’s theme is Toute la diversité du monde. The theme
is part of CPF’s contribution to the celebration of La Semaine
de la Francophonie, which will take place from March 12-25,
2001. Students in Grades 10 and above who are studying French as
a second language in this academic year are invited to submit French
language essays of 250 words illustrating why learning French has
been valuable to them, and would be valuable to others, in this
increasingly diverse world.
Students
must complete an official entry form and certify that their first
language is not French.The
deadline for entries is January 18, 2001.Winners
will be announced during La Semaine de la Francophonie.First
Prize is $1000, Second Prize is $500, Third Prize is $250, and there
will also be three honourable mentions of $100 each.
