Canadian Parents for French is a national volunteer organization working to strengthen French second language school programs and French extra-curricular activities. This summer we will be offering one week for kindergarten children who are entering Grade one French Immersion in the fall. This week of camp will be designed to help the children prepare for their entry into French Immersion. The camp is a wonderful way to help your child get a head start on their Second language.
University students will be hired to organize and conduct a great program in French with fun and educational activities in areas such as drama, visual arts, sports, games, field trips, lots of fun!!! The camp hours will be from 8:30am-4: 30pm,
Monday to Friday, at Sussex Elementary School. The student-counselor ratio will be 8-1 (maximum 16 children per week). Cost is $60 per week, which includes CPF membership, if desired. Discounted rate for 2nd child of the same family is $45.
Participants are required to bring their own lunch and snacks.

The Superintendent of school District 6 has announced the cancellation of the Grade one Early French Immersion program at Sussex Corner Elementary School.  We believe this announcement is unfair and premature, since no information was sent home to the parents, no information meeting was held, and no registration was taken for the program  prior to the cancellation announcement.  If you would like to join the community in appealing to the Superintendent and the Minister of Education to keep this program at the Sussex Corner Elementary School, please write the elected school District 6 District Education Council (school board), school District 6 Superintendent and the Minister of Education.  Parents and community members are circulating a petition to the Education Minister and the Premier to demonstrate support for keeping the program at Sussex Corner.  If you want to support them, please sign your name to their petition.  Log on to www.cpfnb.com for contact information and a copy of the petition.
